On the bright morning of August 7th, 2024, the Faculty of Computing and Informatics warmly welcomed a new cohort of students embarking on their academic journeys in Bachelor of Business Computing and Bachelor of Office and Information Management programs.

The orientation kicked off with an inspiring address by Assoc. Prof. Sonny Nyeko, the esteemed Dean of the Faculty. He greeted the new students with enthusiasm and assured them of the faculty’s commitment to their academic success and personal growth. Assoc. Prof. Sonny Nyeko emphasized the importance of embracing new challenges, engaging actively in their studies, and taking advantage of the numerous opportunities available within the faculty.

Following the Dean’s address, the Faculty Registrar took the stage to guide the students through the administrative processes and academic policies. The Registrar highlighted key procedures, important deadlines, and the various support services available to ensure a smooth transition into university life.

The Heads of Department, Dr. John Paul Kasse, Dr. Samali and Dr. Edward Kabale also played a pivotal role in the orientation. Each Head introduced their respective departments, providing insights into the curriculum, research opportunities, and career prospects. Their presentations offered a glimpse into the dynamic and innovative environment that defines the Faculty of Computing and Informatics.

Additionally, various Administrators were on hand to discuss extracurricular activities, student support services, and campus resources. They encouraged the new students to actively participate in clubs, societies, and events, fostering a sense of community and enhancing their overall university experience.

The orientation event enabled students to understand the grading at the University, where the Dean added that, for students to get internship in the top organizations, they aught to have first class. where students had the opportunity to seek clarifications and interact directly with faculty members. This interactive session underscored the faculty’s open-door policy and dedication to student welfare.
